Celebrating Dr. Jada M. Rhymes-Bacoat!

Growing up in Southeast Georgia, there were few representations of Black professionals. We had a handful of Black teachers and one Black doctor, but, unfortunately, the most prominent “professionals” were drug dealers. This is why, when my high school classmate opened her medical practice with her sister, it was celebration-worthy. Two Black women opening a medical practice in rural Georgia?! Yes.
